If you are a registered member of Changing Places NZ or you have a Changing Places NZ access tag, there are some responsibilities and rules you need to follow.

Who can use Changing Places bathrooms

A Changing Places bathroom (or Changing Place) is intended for use by people with profound or complex disabilities who cannot use standard accessible toileting facilities, and their families and caregivers.

A Changing Place should only be used if the registered member (the person with profound or complex disabilities) has to use the bathroom, or if their caregiver has to use the bathroom. If the registered member is not present, or if the registered member has no need to enter the bathroom, then the Changing Place should not be used.

How to access Changing Places bathrooms

Entry to Changing Places is restricted by the use of a secure access system. When you become a registered member of Changing Places NZ, you are given an access tag or a code for a smartphone app, which grants you access to the Changing Places security system.

Membership is not transferable

Individual membership is issued to a person. Organisation membership is issued to care facilities and other organisations who care for people with profound or complex disabilities.

A Changing Places access tag (or smartphone app code) must not be lent, sold, or otherwise transferred to any other person.

Membership can be cancelled (and access revoked) if the access tag or smartphone app is misused. The Changing Places access tag remains the property of Changing Places New Zealand, and must be returned upon request.

If you lose your access tag or access code

Then we require you to contact us within 24 hours at [email protected]

We will cancel the old tag or access code and issue you with a new one.

You may be charged a replacement fee.

If you no longer require your access tag or access code

Then you must contact us within 24 hours at [email protected]

We will cancel the old tag or access code and issue you with a new one.

You may be charged a replacement fee.

Continued use of Changing Places when you no longer require the extra facilities constitutes misuse and your access will be revoked.

Know how to safely use the equipment

As a condition of membership, all users must indicate that they know how to safely use the equipment and that they will do so in a safe and responsible manner.

Members who need to use the ceiling hoist must bring their own loop sling. Users of the ceiling hoist are responsible for knowing how to safely rig their sling and use the lifting equipment.

All users must report any equipment faults or damage to Changing Places NZ, see Contact Us.

Leave the facility in good condition

You are required to leave the facility in good condition, ready for the next user.

If you notice any equipment is damaged, malfunctioning, or in a dangerous state, then you must contact an appropriate person at the venue or Changing Places NZ, see Contact Us.

If there is gross or malicious damage to a Changing Place, we will share entry logs with the appropriate authorities.
